Brokerage Bonds- A bond is required by the Federal Highway Administration in order to legally operate as a transportation broker.
Cargo-Coverage that compensates a shipper or consignee for loss or damage to property which the trucker is transporting for them subject to policy provisions and exclusions.
Collision Coverage-Will pay for a loss to a covered auto or its equipment under collision caused by the covered auto’s collision with another object and/or the covered auto’s overturn.
Commercial Umbrella- Provides protection for unforeseen catastrophic loss. Provides liability coverage for bodily injury, property damage, advertising, and personal injury claims. It provides first-dollar defense coverage for covered losses when no primary insurance is available, has a worldwide coverage area, and has broader coverage than an excess policy.
Comprehensive Coverage-Will pay for a loss to a covered auto or its equipment from any cause except the covered auto’s collision with another object or the covered auto’s overturn.
Downtime- A type of insurance that pays an insured loss income as a result of his truck being in the shop and not being able to produce revenue.
Fidelity Bonds- A bond that protects an employer from employee theft. This bond guarantees the employer’s money and property in the event that an employee causes damage through negligent or a dishonest action.
Fuel Bonds- A type of bond that guarantees all taxes, penalties, interest and cost due to a specific state.
Garage Keepers Insurance- Provides physical damage coverage for vehicles, which the insured does not own, that are in their care, custody, or control. This is a bailor/bailee situation. The bailor (owner) of a vehicle leaves this vehicle with a bailee (the person taking temporary possession) for repair, service, parking or storage.
General Liability-Provides coverage for premises and operations exposures that truckers have. This coverage includes, but is not limited to, bodily injury and property damage (other than autos), personal injury and advertising injury liability, products and completed operations, limited fire legal liability on rental property, contractual liability from an “insured contract,” erroneous delivery of products, and host liquor liability.
Hired Auto- Only those “autos” you lease, hire, rent or borrow. This does not include any “private passenger type”.
Non-Owned Auto- Only those “autos” you do not own, lease, hire, rent or borrow that are used in connection with your business. This includes “private passenger type” “autos” owned by your employees, partners or members of their households but only while used in your business or your personal affairs.
Non-Trucking Liability- Coverage designed for the protection of the independent trucker when he is not carrying property in any business nor used in the business of anyone to whom the auto is rented, leased, or loaned.
Occupational Accident- Provides benefits for independent contractors which includes accidental death, dismemberment, paralysis, disability, and medical expenses for an injury sustained while under dispatch.
Physical Damage-Specified Peril-will pay for a loss to a covered auto or its equipment under specified causes of loss caused by fire, lightning, explosion, theft, windstorm, hail, earthquake, flood, mischief, vandalism, or the sinking, burning, collision, or derailment of any conveyance transporting the covered auto.
Pollution Liability- An exposure whereby a trucking company causes property damage to our environment that must be cleaned up or restored for which the insured is responsible.
Primary Liability- This coverage protects the trucker for exposures he has for all vehicles owned by him, or operating under his authority, dispatch and control for which he is legally liable.
Property- Coverage for building premises and contents of the premise.
Self Insured Retention- A type of deductible.
Workers Compensation- Coverage designed to compensate injured employees for work-related injuries.
